The Dharma of Engaged Yoga & the Practice of Sustainable OM Yoga
Module 1: Inner Work
November 14, 2020 - January 30, 2021
For curious students and teachers
In this course, Buddhist chaplain and legendary yoga teacher Cyndi Lee, guides you through deep self-work within the framework and wisdom of buddhism and Yoga.
This module is the first of part of a 300 hour teacher training (should you choose to take the other modules), focused on inner work. This training is for both curious students and teachers – no teacher training qualification is necessary to join.
The dharma of engaged yoga is a vibrant approach to practice that flows from the understanding that all beings everywhere are interdependent. What we say and what we do has consequencest; acknowledging this is the foundation of engaged yoga.
Sustainable OM yoga is about cultivating presence, stability, nimbleness, curiosity and nourishment through all categories of asana — standing and seated poses, back and forward bends, twists and inversions.
Module I: inner work
As all practice must, this programme starts with your inner work so that you do not bring your own undigested dukha/suffering into your teaching. The material for the inner work is culled from Buddhist and yoga teachings and practices of compassion, ethics, sustainability, radical inclusivity, motivation and dedication.
Starting with your own body, you will learn how to embody this work through Sustainable OM yoga asana classes: medium-paced vinyasa, precise alignment and mindfulness. Neither goal-oriented or performative,
Each weekly session’s theme will be explored through a dharma talk, contemplative practices of meditation and journaling, and an asana practice. Reading, writing and practice homework will be given and additional Q&A/check-ins will happen weekly.
