About the class

Learn to develop your own peace of mind, and learn ways we can spread that out into the world in a way that makes a difference.

This course will help you get to grips with the basics of buddhism as well as the path of the bodhisattva - the activist seeking freedom and happiness for all.

We will integrate dharma study (buddhist teachings) with the practice of mindfulness meditation, and over time expand our meditation practice to include maitri (loving kindness) and tonglen (sending and taking). In this way, understanding and insight will arise and the teachings of the Four Noble Truths, The Eightfold Path, The Six Paramitas, The Brahma Vihara and The Three Tenets for Walking Alongside will become part of your life.

Part one will begin with Mindfulness meditation instruction and practice. This will give you a ground of concentration and clarity, enhancing your natural ability to reflect on your own thoughts and emotions. The life story of the original buddha (Shakyamuni Buddha) will give us context for how this practice and the rest of the foundational teachings came to be.

We will then dive into the Four Noble Truths: why are they called noble? are they true for you? how do they relate to your life? how can they help you sort through your confusion and stuck places?

We will explore The Eightfold Path as a map for living the life of the Bodhisattva, one who wants to relieve the suffering of everyone, including themself.

Each session will include a dharma lesson, meditation practice, break out group discussions and Q & A. Sometimes there might be some contemplative writing exercises, light stretching and breathing practice.

We'll send the recording out to everyone booked on after the session.

* Maybe join a group at the studio?

We'll put Cyndi live via zoom on the big screen. It gives us a chance to gather together, drink tea and chat over what we learn. Email ian@orangeyoga.co.uk if you fancy joining us at the studio.
